The fortune that forms the basis for the Foundation\u2019s capital was made by Kristian Gerhard Jebsen\u2019s shipping business.<\/p>\n<p>It is therefore natural for the Foundation to contribute, through research and competence-development, to strengthening Norway\u2019s position in the marine and maritime industry and in relation to the ocean as our most important resource.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]So far, two KG Jebsen centres have been established in the maritime and marine fields, both of them in fields in which the coastal cities of Bergen and Troms\u00f8 have competence, business interests and jobs.
