The K. G. \u00a0Jebsen Academy for Young Researchers followed its tradition of handing out two annual awards to young researchers working at a K. G. Jebsen Centre for Medical Research. The awards ceremony took place on the second day of the academy meeting which coincided with the first day of the autumn meeting for all medical centres.<\/div>\n

The award for the best publication in 2023 went to\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Peder Langeland Myhre at the K.G. Jebsen Center for Cardiac Biomarkers for the publication Influence of NT-proBNP on Efficacy of Dapafligozin in Heart Failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction<\/em> published in JACC Heart Fail. 2022 Dec;10(12):902-913<\/div>\n

Peder Langeland Myhre is an associate professor at the University of Oslo and acting senior physician at the Department of Cardiology, Akershus University Hospital. In the K.G. Jebsen Center for Cardiac Biomarkers, he leads the work package on proteomics – new biomarkers associated with the risk of developing heart failure.<\/div>\n
Myhre also held the annual K.G. Jebsen lecture based on the publication.<\/div>\n

The award for the best public dissemination went to<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0Dr. Brooke Wolford from the K.G. Jebsen Center for Genetic Immunology at NTNU Trondheim. According to the prize committee, she managed to communicate her complex research to different target groups from teenagers to grown-ups and created a better understanding of how genetics can shape the risk to get certain diseases. She participated actively in the National Science Week in Norway 2022 where she presented the research to school children.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Wolford is currently employed as a post doc at NTNU and investigates polygenic scores (PGS), which are a measure of an individual’s genome-wide risk for disease with the potential to renew today’s precision medicine. This is the second year in a row Wolford won the award.<\/div>\n
The prize winners will receive NOK 20,000 each.<\/div>\n

The academy changes its leader annually, with the deputy leader being promoted to leader and from 2024 Ellen R\u00f8yrvik from the K.G. Jebsen Center for Autoimmune Diseases takes over the baton from Asgeir Kobro-Flatmoen at K.G. Jebsen Center for Alzheimer’s disease, new deputy director will be Svein I. St\u00f8ve at K.G Jebsen Center for Translational Research in Parkinson’s disease.<\/p>\n
