Jebsen Brain Tumor Centre<\/h1><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/217562438&#8243;][vc_column_text]The centre\u2019s primary goal is to come up with a better and more predictable treatment for patients with malignant brain tumours.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The establishment of this interdisciplinary centre was made possible through grants from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stiftkgj.no\/?lang=en\">Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Foundation<\/a>\u00a0and from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uib.no\/en\/mofa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry<\/a>, University of Bergen\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.helse-bergen.no\/Sider\/side.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Haukeland University Hospital<\/a>. In addition, the researchers at the centre receive support from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kreftforeningen.no\/en\/main-priorities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Norwegian Cancer Society<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forskningsradet.no\/en\/Home_page\/1177315753906\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Research Council of Norway\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bfstiftelse.no\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bergen Research Foundation<\/a>, as well as the European Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The K.G. Jebsen BTRC and the University of Bergen-NorLux partnership fosters excellence in brain tumour research, amalgamating the expertise of scientists, clinical investigators and physicians in a virtual laboratory environment at the\u00a0<a title=\"University of Bergen\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uib.no\/en\/rg\/trancancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Bergen<\/a>, The Haukeland University Hospital and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lih.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luxembourg Institute of Health (L.I.H.)<\/a>, Luxembourg. A stimulating research environment has been created allowing scientists to share ideas, resources and equipment in an atmosphere conductive to achieving excellence in molecular neuro-oncology research, scientific output and clinical research.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Mission<\/strong><span class=\"s1\"><br \/>\nThe primary goal of the Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Brain Tumour Research Centre is to provide better and more predictable treatment of patients with malignant brain tumors. This will be done by translating new important knowledge gained from our \u00a0extensive research activities into clinical trials where scientists and health care clinicians work in partnership to translate laboratory findings into new or improved forms of therapy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"ezcol ezcol-one-half ezcol-last\">\n<p><strong>Focus<\/strong><br \/>\nWe\u00a0focus on primary brain tumours as well as metastatic tumours to the brain. Our\u00a0research activities within the\u00a0<a title=\"NorLux\" href=\"https:\/\/www.norlux.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NorLux<\/a>\u00a0laboratories focus on basic and translational research, \u00a0where the aim is to understand better how brain tumors are initiated and to better delineate the mechanisms responsible for tumor growth. The\u00a0K.G.
