Call for proposals: K.G. Jebsen Centres for Medical Research
The Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Foundation hereby calls for proposals for funding for two new K.G....
The Foundation is proud to have contributed to Andsnes’s immersion in Beethoven’s music. Through his relationship with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Bergen International Festival, Leif Ove Andsnes has been important to the Foundation’s overall focus on culture. At the same time, Andsnes embodies precisely what the Foundation wishes to achieve through its involvement in the arts. With his local grounding and constant striving for perfection, he has succeeded in establishing himself at the highest international level.
With the Beethoven Project (2012–2015), Leif Ove Andsnes wished to immerse himself in Beethoven’s piano concertos in cooperation with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. In addition to an extensive tour (230 concerts in 108 cities in 27 countries), the project also produced lasting results in the form of new recordings of all of Beethoven’s piano concertos. They were released on three records that were all very well received in international music circles.
The recording of Beethoven’s piano concertos 2 & 4 was voted BBC Music Magazine´s Recording of the Year 2015 in competition with 1,500 other recordings.
