Professor John-Anker Zwart from Oslo University Hospital and the University of Oslo and Professor Eva Prescott from Bispebjerg University Hospital Copenhagen have been appointed as members of the foundation’s advisory committee for medical research from 1. January 2023.

Zwart is a senior physician in neurology at Oslo University Hospital and Professor II at the University of Oslo. His expertise in neuroscience is very relevant to the foundation’s major investment in medical centres, where Stiftelsen Kristian Gerhard Jebsen, among other things, finances several centres that carry out translational research on neurodegenerative disorders.

Eva Prescott is head of the Center for Cardiovascular Research at the University of Copenhagen and has broad expertise in heart research that also includes large patient studies. Several K.G. Jebsen centres for medical research are geared towards understanding different aspects of heart diseases.

The new members were appointed by the foundation’s CEO and have a term of office of 2 and 4 years respectively.

Stiftelsen Kristian Gerhard Jebsen expresses its sincere gratitude for their indispensable help and advice to Professors Hanne Flinstad Harbo and Gitte Moos Knudsen, who were former members of the advisory committee.

The advisory committee for medical research advises the board, participates in the overall assessment of medical centre applications and helps identify scientific experts for external assessment. The committee also participates in the progress assessment of the medical projects and reports on this to the foundation’s board. Committee members cover the broad fields of cancer, cardiovascular conditions, and neurology. The committee’s full mandate can be read here.

The committee’s other members are:

Professor emeritus Stener Kvinnsland University of Bergen,

Professor Carl-Henrik Heldin, Uppsala University and
