The Beethoven Journey in brief
With the Beethoven Project (2012–2015), Leif Ove Andsnes wished to immerse himself in Beethoven’s piano concertos in cooperation with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. In addition to an extensive tour (230 concerts in 108 cities in 27 countries), the project also produced lasting results in the form of new recordings of all of Beethoven’s piano concertos. They were released on three records that were all very well received in international music circles.
The recording of Beethoven’s piano concertos 2 & 4 was voted BBC Music Magazine´s Recording of the Year 2015 in competition with 1,500 other recordings.
