The K. G. Jebsen Academy for Young Researchers followed its tradition of handing out two annual awards to young researchers working at a K. G. Jebsen Centre for Medical Research. The awards ceremony took place on the second day of the academy meeting which coincided with the first day of the autumn meeting for all medical centres.

The award for the best public dissemination went to
Dr. Brooke Wolford from the K.G. Jebsen Center for Genetic Immunology at NTNU Trondheim. According to the prize committee, she managed to communicate her complex research to different target groups from teenagers to grown-ups and created a better understanding of how genetics can shape the risk to get certain diseases. She participated actively in the National Science Week in Norway 2022 where she presented the research to school children.
Wolford is currently employed as a post doc at NTNU and investigates polygenic scores (PGS), which are a measure of an individual’s genome-wide risk for disease with the potential to renew today’s precision medicine. This is the second year in a row Wolford won the award.
